Myticism in Sufi music
Amidst all the controversies of distorting the history, i should confess that the movie "Jodhaa Akbar" is a worth watch. The music and background score is by ARR.
Khwaja mere Khwaja is a sufi style music which caught my attention. The song starts with a humming by the lead singer and his company. It is interesting to note that the humming was done in different scales by ARR himself !!
Another thing is the picturisation, in which the King Akbar goes in a trance and dances to the song. Now this kind of an experiance and the way it was presented was different.
Though it might sound illogical to most of them, but music has mesmerized many.
Be it the Famous Thrissur pooram , or the ISKCON bhajans, the trance is the same, the sway to music is the same.
I guess this happens when the brain waves happens to be in sync with the any music, be it sufi, rock or carnatic, putting you in a different plane, in a different wavelength :).
